Repeating Myself

Tama na emote mo dyan, T2Green I was all set for RedLobster, PorpolHaze & myself to treat you to your bday lunch in LB today.  Di ba you guys were gonna treat me to a bananacue, too, for having won our bet re GMA?  To the best of my recollection, yun ang plano, capped with dinner (your treat, probably in Vivere) on the 30th.  Ewan ko kung papano na nangyari.  Basta, ang alam ko lang, nahilo na ako and today was off.  PorpolHaze is in the thick of her thesis & RedLobster was put out of commission by laryngitis.  You're right, though, Los Banos will still be there next week, two weeks from now, whenever.  Medyo six months pa lang naman natin pinaplano pumunta doon, di ba?  Even before PBAP came to be.  Hmmm.....

I blogged at 1am on Wednesday.  Si RedLobster ang nag-evaporate.  (Turuán na!)  I only missed last night 'cuz I was exhausted from a mercy mission that occupied my whole day.  I am now an authority on sanatoria in Metro Manila.  I must've called 10 or 11 yesterday.  I did it for someone who has to put her son into one.  She couldn't make the calls herself 'cuz the son was acting up right next to her.  Prices range from nothing (NCMH in Mandaluyong & St John in Valenzuela where you get galěs & TB thrown in for free) to P25K/month for basic bed & board (shared with others--no private rooms, not inclusive of meds, doctor's fees, lab, laundry, occupational therapy).  Boy, what an education it was!  I found a mid-priced one for P12K/month basic.  She &/or I just have to see the place & if it's decent, off he goes.  Please help with your prayers.  We have no problems next to this woman, believe me.

Today was spent scouring Makati for the fucking gown.  I went to Landmark, Sari-Sari, Cinderella, SM & Rustan's, plus a few boutiques, for good measure.  More to-kill-for gowns in Rustan's but the prices were obscene, given my means & my needs.  I ended up with Basia (Landmark carries the brand but no formals) in SM Boutique.  I could kick myself for not having known better...Basia is owned by BabyLyn Escaler, Oying's sister-in-law!  I found 2 options there.  I'm asking her to take them to the tomorrow so I can fit them with my 2 girdles & tooter-helpers.  If the underwear lines don't show, I have my outfit for the wedding.  If they do, I'll have this bakla in Dayap make the gown to my specs.  End of gown saga.  Sapatos naman.  I HATE MALLS!

Vivere is a hotel in Filinvest Alabang.  Their penthouse restaurant serves decent food, the prices are reasonable, and best of all, the ambience is gorgeous.  One of those places you have to see to appreciate.  Papano macocompleto ang POBAP?  Oranswit flying in?  Basta, I'm game for LB anytime, barring previous commitments.  Ditto with your birthday dinner, T2Green.  Your call, girls.

Gee, and I thought my memory was bad.  Sr. Christine has been explained by T2Green.  Amalia, too, partly; she was our classmate in grade school.  Neither was our teacher, neither worked in the canteen and neither worked in the registrar's office.  PorpolHaze, Sr. Scholastica was the resident terror of St. Cecilia's Hall.  T2Green, Bopeep is Alicia Santos--kinda reserved, wore glasses, a little masungit when we were kids but grew up really nice.  Check out your annual.  She's there.

I don't know if Tinggay knows what a creep Lito has turned out to be...or if she cares.  Busted nga, di ba?  She's lived in the States for the past 20 years & is so out of it.  She never came to visit while anything politically interesting was happening in Manila.  And when she's here, it's all paseo & bonding big-time.  Maybe she'll get lucky when she comes in November.  Might just catch him making a of himself on national TV.  I don't know why he became this way; maybe money or power happened to him?  And no, her other suitor was not Ernie Baron.  Sa akin yon, no!?!  The father of my future children....  Sorry, I won't tell you without her say-so.  If I have the time & I remember to do it, I'll email her for permission.  If OK by her, I'll spill the beans immediately.  Fair enough?  Suffice it to say that her little sister is extremely happy that she had the smarts not to fall for him.  Busted din.

Why do I feel like we've discussed many of the above issues in previous blogs, texts & email messages?

RedLobster, where are you?!?

High EQ

Ayaw niyo ba ako i-blowout? I'm hurt. But never mind, we can reset. I can be very patient when it comes to free food, high EQ ako. Porpolhaze can't make it 'til the 25th, RedLobster you sounded awful on the phone yesterday, and BlueNun, where are you? You just disappeared. Are you busy fitting your gown? Anyway, LB will still be there unless Mariang Makiling decides to blow her top. Do we still do dinner, Thursday the 30th at.....? BlueNun will you please tell us where Vivere is para mabuyo naman kami. It's my treat di ba so I'm sure completo ang POBAPians dito. LB will be our first POBAPian out-of-town excursion, so it has to be complete, right?

Porpolhaze, were you referring to Sr. Christine or to Amalia Lusitro working in the canteen? Sr. Christine was the celebrity Good Shepherd nun, she was never in St. Scho except as a student. As for Amalia, she said she flunked one year so she didn't graduate with our year. I don't think she worked at the registrar or canteen either. Who again is Bopeep? I can see her face but everything else is hazy.

BlueNun, does Tinggay know what a real creepy guy Lito Banayo has become? Thank God na-busted siya or she would have lived with a coconut husk staring at her from his head. If he was so nice before, why is he now on the wrong side of the fence? Napaka-twisted logic niya! Also, Tinggay wouldn't know if you told us who her other suitor was. We won't tell. Hint naman! Was it Ernie Baron?

Thanks again to Tita Heidi for the tickets to the DFA Bazaar. I'm thinking of going in the morning to beat the crowds. What are the goodies to look out for? I've never been to this one. This will force me to do my Christmas shopping early, though my problem is that I end up buying for myself and conveniently forgetting who I need to buy presents for. Sats is lipe.

By the way, Tita Heidi gave a really nice eulogy for Sr. Christine. She still calls her Menggy up to this day. I don't think I've ever heard anyone call her that. Not even her ate Choleng.

I'm off to play golf this afternoon. See ya.

Menggy

She loved to travel First Class when possible. She loved bubble baths in hotel bathrooms then wrap herself with the plush white towels. She loved to snorkel which she learned to do fairly recently when her brother rented a yacht to go island hopping in Palawan. She became the first Filipina Provincial Head of her order, she was the first female religious Con-con delegate, and then a director of the PCSO (charged with corruption by no less than Jinggoy Estrada). She said that none of this was really important to her. She enjoyed them, yes, but it was her family in Leveriza that made her very happy. No matter that she was living in a hovel surrounded by a smelly humanity, she was one of them and one with them. She was a loner when she was young so no one really knew her thoughts but her metamorphosis (Tita Heidi's word) from the quiet young woman to the well-known activist-humanist, was inevitable.

This was a collage of Sr. Christine Tan's life as painted by her sister-in-law Mrs. Emma Tan, by her classmate and good friend Tita Heidi, and by her father confessor, Fr. Arevalo. A very moving retrospective of a modern saint -- a model for all of us. It made me think how my life seem so trivial in comparison to the depth with which this woman lived her life, for God and for her neighbors.

It was amazing how the entire neighborhood of Singalong showed up last night for the Memorial Mass, families not seen since our childhood. There were other ghosts from our past too, Amalia Luistro, Marisa Suarez, Donna Leda, Dra. Alora, Miss Endaya (Sr. Ofi), Mrs. Colayco, Tito Benny Tan and other familiar faces with names lost forever in my subconscious. A favorite song of Sr. Christine's was sung, "Bless Oh Dearest Mother." Sr. Christine said that when she heard that song sung in Mitos Donato's funeral mass in St. Scho, she felt fulfilled as a child of the Benedictines. I don't exactly know what she meant by that. But I felt quite comforted when I heard it. Do you remember the tune and the lyrics?

People and things don't really change, they are just transformed. I suppose. That's what I learned from Menggy. I wish that we had more of her and more like her. The world seems an emptier place when the Sr. Christines of this world say good bye.

Where Is Everybody?

No bloggers today?  Are you still having problems publishing your entry, RedLobster

Nothing much to tell you about today.  Ran to Rustan's and fell in love with a gown I saw there.  Weighed a ton from all the beading but not matrix at all.  Gorgeous!  It'll be my panic gown, in case I don't find anything else.  A little pricey, though, considering it's probably going to be worn only once.  Meantime, I'm going to see a designer whose work Cinderella carries.  Very reasonable.  I can have a gown made to my specs (cover the goddamn arms, please!) for under P5K.  I'm not feeling so panicky anymore.

So PorpolHaze can't make it this Thursday.  Do we re-set or is it a go?  Frankly, I'm good either way.  While we will surely miss her kalokohan, we can still have fun, right?  Or, we can go on a day that she's available, para completo ang PBAP.  Your call, T2Green & RedLobster.  Just lemme know.

By the way, T2Green, were you able to attend Sr. Christine's requiem Mass?  Bert lent me his car & driver for only 2 hours 'cuz he had someplace to go.  A quick hop to the Town Center was all I could cram into that time.  It would have been nice to go & pay my respects.....

Welcome Back, PorpolHaze

Hey, PorpolHaze, good to have you back!  Yes, I'm feeling much better, thank you.  No more  but my throat's still sore & my knees still hurt.  (Iba na yata yon.)  Been chilling in my room since Tuesday, trying to get stronger.  I'll venture over to Mom's for family day tomorrow.  Probably have to wear a mask so she doesn't pick up any bugs still hanging on to me.  Good.  The better to stick 'em up during mah jongg.

So what's the final deal on Los Banos?  Is it this Thursday, the 16th or on the 30th?  My understanding, same as T2Green's apparently, was that we would LB this Thursday, treat T2Green to her bday lunch & you guys treat me to my bananacue.  Then, on the 30th, T2Green will treat us to dinner.  I'm good, either way.

I don't believe Ping Lacson.  I don't believe Mike Arroyo.  I don't believe Loren Legarda.  The next time anyone wants to convince me of anything, I want PROOF.  In the meantime, I will believe only in.....

                                                          LUUUV!

Hahahahahaha!!!!!

I'll let you in on a little dark secret.  Lito Banayo went after Tinggay many, many years ago.  He was Bert's professor in UST, I think, & somehow, he met Tinggay.  Naturál, busted.  He used to be a really nice fellow, back when he had hair.....  She had one more suitor I'm itching to tell you about but she'll REALLY kill me if I told you guys.  Yun, talaga, secret.

Good to hear Sr. Scholastica's well.  A few months back, I heard it was a death watch already in St. Scho Marikina.

Sr. Christine didn't seem to mind the hug.  She probably felt it was sincere so she hugged back.  I guess even holy, serious people like her could use a positive stroke.

Penis is polite.

You spoke too soon re the Smileys, T2Green.

Requiem for the Smileys

I ws readng al ur entris, PorpolHaze. Gling mo tlaga, ur a tru spacesavr, oks pla pagpinopolis! U luk so kwawa in tht syd tho! I agri wid u re Yamashita and Loren. But I am now confused aren't we LBing this Thursday? I better get this right or I might pick up RedLobster and show up at Bluenuns. Is it this week or next we go to LB?

Yes, porpolhaze, I agree with you again regarding that stupid title First Gentleman. Why can't they just refer to him as plain Mr. Mike A-porker. No, but seriously, it is so silly to call him FGMA. Although, even if he truly is Jose Pidal, Ping Lacson still is unable to come up with original documents nor hard evidence. I can put together an AV presentation (a much better one mind you) and accuse you, porpolhaze, of masterminding the Citibank caper a few weeks ago. I guarantee you, I can make it very convincing with the use of photocopies and computer-enhanced pictures. And, if I raise my voice loud enough, I can convince our mentally challenged lawmakers and the madlang pipols that you have laundered the money in BlueNun's account. So far, Ping's presentation sounded like a lot of empty air. Its all hearsay with a lot of lakas-ng-loob. Lito Banayo's little strategy will blow up in his face, you watch.

What ba is the Masskara Festival? Is that people putting on masks and partying in anonymity? If I am right, TYPE KO YAN! Parang Venetian Mardi Gras. When again is this, Red Lobster? Bahay and pagkain sounds like a real good deal to me. By the way, Sr. Scholastica is in Bacolod, if I'm not mistaken, and I think she's okay. Let me check on that.

I knew it! BlueNun would like my aunt's story. I don't know if she went around hugging the nuns though. I'll have to ask my cousins that. I'm surprised Sr. Christine hugged you back, BlueNun, because she was very reserved and looked quite unapproachable too. And next time, I promise to use the word penis instead of male member. I just thought we were in polite company kasi.

Lastly, I will miss the smileys. They were great while they lasted. I might be wrong, but those free downloads have an evil intent. What, I'm not sure yet. Let's see....

Restos, Codenames, Ciggies, Sainted Nuns & Bad People

RedLobster, opening a resto was a long-cherished dream of mine, too.  What's-his-face & I talked about it all the time.  We were gonna call it Man and Wife.  So much for that.  I've stopped dreaming in that direction.  Feeling too old for that shit.  Too lazy, to be honest.  But you go for it, girl!  Suportahan ta ka.  How about opening a food stall in some heavy foot-traffic place, as T2Green suggested in her email, for starters?  If it succeeds, move on to bigger things.  If not, no big loss in terms of capital.  SM?  Robinson's?  Looks like there's no getting away from these mall-type locations, if you want to test the market or your staying power.  The stand-alone type of operations would be great in the beginning.  People flock to you....especially if you have friends like us who'll advertise for you and pay our way.  The thing is, how sustainable can it be?  Just my thoughts.

Sorry, but your Yamashita response escapes me.  What happened to your Mom?

I introduced myself to Sr. Christine during EDSA II.  Ang baduy ko talaga--parang fans club.  I just admired her so much that I threw all timidity to the wind.  Before we parted, I asked for permission to hug her.  O, di ba, sobrang baduy na yon?  She seemed genuinely amused & hugged me back warmly.  Pinagbigyan, kung baga.  I'm glad I did it.  Beckie Vergel de Dios, whose Dad is very close to Sr. Scholastica, has no word on Sister.  Lemme check with Sandy or Maan & get back to you with an update.

T2Green, a synaptic connection has formed in my brain regarding your codename.  It was only the first time I read it that visions of a lichen-covered male member (what a quaint term!) came to mind.  Henceforth, you shall be Tee-to-Green to this BlueNun.

There's a good lesson to be learned from your aunt:  Puff till you drop.  I don't mean to be irreverent.  The woman lived to a ripe old age in spite of the ciggies.  She did what made her feel good.  Bolsters my argument about not giving up these happy sticks.  I know, I know....Filosofang Putpot.

I do stream-of-consciousness, too, mostly.  The only diff is that I scribble little notes when I read your blogs.  That way, I remember to respond to questions or react to something you might have written.  Besides, I have to humor the OC in me, right RedLobster?  Ergo, my entries are kinda sketchy.  So what?  Makes it easier to keep up with the commitment to blog.

About Loren, the intelligent/patriotic part of her must be screaming, "I can't foist FPJ on da madlang pipol!"  The opportunist in her, on the other hand, must be whispering into her ear, "Do it!  Aside from being a sure win, FPJ is sooo not a threat."  Guess who's winning.  Shet da puet.  Hope Sr. Christine helps us from where we all know she is.

No borloloy on this blog.  Everytime I click on Smiley Central, this little pop-up says:  A runtime error has occurred.  Do you wish to Debug?  Paging RedLobster.  What to do?

Amag-covered T2, FPJ-Loren, Etc.

If that's what you read in my cyber name, then that's what it is then. Okay lang yun, para katawa-tawa. I told you what it means, now if your imagination is as green as the male member I described above, problema mo na yan.

Yesterday I came from the mortuary where my aunt (fathers sister) was lying in state. She was 88 years old and died of heart failure resulting from complications from emphysema. Apparently, she was a closet chain smoker! Her immediate family knew she smoked of course, but none of us relatives had the slightest inkling of her secret habit. I suppose my fathers family culture was extremely conservative so smoking was just a great big no-no. She was a widow who raised four boys on an SSS salary. Try doing that today! According to her son, she started smoking when her husband passed away in 1962 and increased over the years with the death of first one son and then eventually another. To live to 88 though, holy smokes!

I have been writing this blog in installments since Saturday morning and its now Sunday evening. I've come to realize its taking a lot of time to sit and write this, I notice though its now easier for me to go ahead and do a stream-of-consciousness type of writing. Just whatever comes to mind. I'm starting to get the hang of it. I got your text Blue Nun  and I was just thinking about texting you guys to get the Star, but I changed my mind because it's really a lousy newspaper and all for one article on Loren Legarda. Well, short of emailing you the entire article, the gist of it was how Loren categorically stated that she would prefer to run with FPJ (patay kang bata ka). She said that maids, cooks and drivers if asked who they are voting for they naturally say FPJ. So that's where she's going. Ay yay yay yay yay!!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we're deep in shit here. Time to pray extra hard again tonight.

Sebastian, the Red Lobster

It's been a long week, sorry.  All my appointments got pushed around like mahjong tiles, clients to visit in Araneta Avenue, Port Area and then ... ay ewan!  But it still beats having to do this for an employer so I am not complaining.  Just trying to catch my breath.

Red Lobster I prefer to Red Scorpion.  Baka pagkamalan akong Alex Boncayao Brigade.  Besides, I love to cook and I like that NY resto.  Before Red Crab came into the scene, I had wanted to use the name in case I opened a resto of my own.  I still will I know.  Talagang hinihingi ng kaluluwa ko.  But I want to do it with people I enjoy working with. I don't want it to be in GBelt, or any of these commercial places.  Something like that house near Malacanang but not that pricey.  Any suggestions?

Blue Nun (naks!), I responded to your Yamashita mail but don't know if through this blog or email.  Kinuwento ko pa nga yung nangyari sa Mommy ko di ba?  I heard your guest's comment pero di-nedma ko na lang.  Alangan patulan pa natin.  While T2Green's theory is sound, I think brainpower (or the lack of it) plays a more important role in this case.  Seriously.  Or tamad na lang mag-isip pa outside of the box.

I feel like the Hardy Boys (could never relate to Nancy Drew).  Next thing you know, we'll be blogging on invisible ink.

Speaking of hi tek, the Westin is probably the newest hot spot in town.  After winning the bid to house the Bush entourage, they had the place wi-fied.  All that for a 6 hour visit.

Bacolod's Masskara festival began today.  Maybe we can calendar next year's event --- sagot ko yung bahay and home cooked meals.

Although my Mom is very close to all the Tan's, I didn't have a chance to know Sr. Christine well.  Sayang.  I was close to Tita Choleng, Mrs. Suarez, Dra. Alora, etc.  but maybe because she wasn't an SSC nun, I wasn't able to interact with her.  I got your text T2Green but was somewhere in deep space so I couldn't go to the chapel.

Sr. Scholastica was supposed to be dying but I don't know if she did or she still is.  Terror 'yon during our time.  Especially to us piano students.  Oranswit shoud remember, we were her "favorites" as in laging pinapagalitan.  We would often set off these metronomes in the piano rooms and pretend they were ticking time bombs --- ADV.  T2Green should remember that too.  St. Cecilia's was our battle zone and Sr. Scholastica & Sr. Dorothy were the enemy forces.

Porpol Haze, do you have another email address we can use?  Kawawa ka naman diyan sa tabi, para kang qua-qua.  If you have an ISP from home, let's use that na lang.  I can help you with that.  Kung wala, kumuha ka na utang na loob!!!!!

In the meantime, hahanapin ko muna si Nemo.  Just call me Sebastian.

Wow, Pare, Talagang Colors na

Did you like the greening of your blog, T2Green?   (Pls re-consider your codename.  I didn't read it as tee-to-green the first time I saw it.  Read it again with non-golfer's eyes & you'll see where I'm coming from.  But if you like it, by all means.....it's your name.)

Since we're talking about Sr. Christine, what's the word on the other nun who hasn't been well--Sr. Scholastica?  Looks like we're fast becoming the frontliners, girls.

I agree with T2Green's brainwash theory, although I think IQ has nothing to do with it.  The intelligence remains, at least insofar as other things are concerned.  I think it has more to do with feelings & experiences.  You stick someone in a milieu where they eat crap, breathe crap, dream crap.......they don't know it's crap.  Of course, one can argue that they can always step outside their environment and investigate if there's more to this world than crap but that would be extremely difficult to do when one is living off the crap, and enjoying it immensely.  I hope I'm not coming across as being arrogant or judgmental.  (Who knows if I wouldn't be worse after having been fed crap for so long?)  Just presenting my theory for your scrutiny.

Vivere is inexpensive.  The prices range from P200-P300/dish, on the average.  If I remember correctly, the lunch buffet went for P400 but we had excellent steaks, prawns, gindara, Caesar Salad and the like coming out of our ears.  Value for money.  I can always check again, ip you wis.  Worth the visit.  Besides, the view is to kill for.

Hope you find your webhost, T2Green.   What a waste of time & effort if your work is not appreciated by the madlang public.  Calling RedLobster, our resident techie.....to the rescue!  Where are you, by the way?

PorpolHaze, Oranswit, blog when you have a moment, okay?

BlueNun signing off.  (I couldn't gather the nerve to go with BlueBalls.   BlueNun is shit to drink but the name is apt, doncha think?)
